Message from The Provost - 2012/13
Tumaini
University Makumira Dar es Salaam College (TUMADARCo) is one of five Constituent Colleges
of Tumaini University Makumira. The other four are Iringa University
College, Kilimanjaro
Christian Medical College, Stefano Moshi Memorial University College and the
Sebastian Kolowa University College.
TUMADARCo joined the Tumaini University family on 1st April, 2003 having existed
since 1997 as Waldorf College Tanzania. It has since grown from 249 students
during 2004/2005 academic year to over 1,700 students during 2011/2012. These
students were enrolled in degree programmes - the Bachelor of Business Administration
(BBA), Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Service (BA-LIS) and the
Bachelor of Law (LL.B). The range now includes the BA in Mass Communication,
BA in Information Management, Certificate in Law, Certificate in Accounting
and Business Administration, Certificate in Records Management, Diploma in
Business Administration. The first batch of students graduated in 2004 while
the next batch graduated in 2005. In 2004 15 students were awarded the BBA
while 22 were awarded the same degree in 2005. In 2011 750students graduated.
Expansion of the College has necessitated relocation from Tanganyika Motors
in the city centre to two locations - Kurasini Lutheran Congregation behing the Centre for
Foreign Relations off the Kilwa road and Mwenge at plot no. 10 Light Industries Area.
It is our hope that readers of this prospectus will get a glimpse at what
TUMADARCo does, how it conducts its academic programmes and the legal instruments
that underlie its operations.
TUMADARCo was awarded its Letter of Interim Authority on 1st July 2004 and
its Certificate of Provisional Registration on July 14th 2005. Certificate
of Full
Registration was granted in 2007.
We aim at the best quality and have thus obtained the national Board of Accountants
and Auditors. Exemption from modules E and F of the CPA for taking the Accounting
option of the degree BBA.
We also aim at well matured graduates so that they make a difference in the
difference in the service they render to their fellowmen here on earth.
