Getting started
Students who are new to the Tumaini University Dar Es Salaam College,
will be aware that there is much emphasis on the use of Information
Technology. Most courses require students to use a computer at some
point in their studies. Students arrive at TUDARCo with various levels
of experience in the use of computers. This page is aimed at those
students who have never used a computer before and who require a little
help to get them started.
Using a computer for the first time can be very daunting. It is a good idea to get to know the main components of a computer before you start. Once you discover which part does what, the rest will follow easily.
There are two main types of computers used at TUDARCo. The more traditional
PC with big screen, and the more compact flat screen PC. These are composed
of
a keyboard,
mouse and monitor, current we have Desktop and Tower replacing the tower.
Before you can use the computers at TUDARCo you must register for a computer account. Your department may advise you how to do this or you can visit one of the Help Desks if you need assistance. You will be issued with a username and password, with which, you can access the facilities on the network.
Once you have registered, you will receive a username and a password. Your username will be composed of your initials and a number. for example if your name is wilfred Jackson Warioba your user name will be wjw124. This will be your user name for the rest of the time you will be at the College.
Once you have a computer account, you can access the service. To do this, you must login to a computer in any Open Access User Area or Computer Lab.
