Hardware Purchases
Hardware purchase requirements should be directed to Purchasing officer. You should make Hardware purchase requests in good time for the purchases to be made and the hardware installed if relevant. You should also endeavour to include hardware purchases in the ICT budget each year. Please speak to Purchasing officer about individual hardware requests.

Hardware Repairs
If your computer breaks down you should report the fault ASAP (using a colleague's computer) to IT Support@tumainidsm.ac.tz. This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it Though many people prefer to call in on the IT Support Officers to report and describe the fault (or may pass them in the corridor and mention it), you should still report the fault to the email address above, so that the fault can be logged and tracked.

Computer Software
Most software required for you to perform your job will installed on your office computer by default. The software can be installed to College's laptops. The stipulation is that the software is only licensed for College work and that it should be uninstalled from laptops should you leave University employment.

Should you wish to purchase specialised software you should contact IT Support who should be able to advise on the best software for your needs and where to purchase from.

Printing & Photocopying
We will soon implement a system whereby students will receive a swipe card that contains their printing credit. Every time they wish to print, they use their swipe card. Whenever their swipe card runs out of credits, they simply purchase some more.

Network Printers
All Campus will have at least one networked printer dedicated to Staff. To obtain access to the printer you need the printer drivers installed on your desktop computer or laptop and access codes on the individual printer itself. Both of these can be obtained from IT Support.

Desktop Printers
If one of the Network printers is not accessible, you may qualify for a desktop printer in your office. To request a desktop printer, contact the ICT Unit, remember this also need to be reflected in your department budget.

Part-time tutors: A Department ID and Password that gives part-time tutors access. The ID and Password are changed annually.

Printing, ie from a computer workstation, is not currently available except through a staff member. It is planned to install a computer workstation for part-time tutors in their drop-in room.

Paper
Standard A4 and A3 photocopying and printing paper can be obtained from stores.

Reporting Errors
Errors for printers or printing problems should be reported to ICT Unit. The IT team is NOT responsible for filling the printers with paper or for removing paper jams
